Currine and Company is very proud to announce the recent deal to sponsor Minnesota’s own Brandon Girtz. He has blown through the ranks in Minnesota and despite injuries, he is one of the top 155lb fighters in the state. We’re very excited for his upcoming fight in Bellator and look forward to supporting him as he takes over all 155ers in Bellator.
Age: 27 years old
Hometown: Forest Lake, MN
Gym: The Academy
Girtz was a former wrestling standout at Minnesota State University (Mankato) where he competed in nationals three times and earned All-American Honors. In his relatively young mixed martial arts career, Girtz has already compiled quality victories over:
•Bellator/Strikeforce veteran Drew Dober (18-3)
•Mike Plazola (16-7) Feature Video
•Dan Merth (5-2)
Both of Brandon’s Losses have come at the hands of UFC veterans. First was against Alvin Robinson in a bout that was considered by many as Minnesota’s “Fight of the Year” in 2010. His other loss came by UFC veteran Eric Wisely via technical submission (broken arm). Girtz was without a doubt in full control, dominating Eric from start to finish, however the fight came to an abrupt end in the final round when Girtz realized his arm was broken. He took a punch to the forearm and tried to keep throwing punches but he couldn’t continue. As a result, Wisley’s next fight was in the UFC.
Even with injuries Girtz has been considered a top contender at the 155lb division. He comes into Bellator on November 9th in full strength and ready to show he belongs in the top of the division.
We were able to sponsor him with our Royalty Currine Blue shorts, Sterling/Currine Collab Black shorts, banner (designed by Cagebanner), and a Currine Seaside Snapback.
Look for him to come out of this fight with a huge knockout or a slick submission. He impressed us at Currine & Co. and he will make a name for himself in Bellator on the 9th.
